Community3.10
English classes and community
Theory
Both community colleges offer free English classes for adults. Wake Tech's ESL classes are free for adult Wake County residents, in person and online. Durham Tech's ESL classes are free for adults in Durham and Orange counties. Classes fill up, so sign up early. Community helps too: libraries, weekend language schools, and peer support make the first year feel less alone.
Method
- Wake County: fill in Wake Tech's ESL interest form.
- Durham or Orange County: contact Durham Tech's English language programs for placement and the next start date.
- Get a library card at your county library and browse its events for free programs.
- For bilingual mental health education and peer support, see our partner UCA WAVES on the Mental health page.
